Dad first. Beginner once. Building in public.

I'm Graham. I'm not a guru on a yacht. I'm a working dad from Wales who lost a 21 year career and decided to build something of my own. Here's the whole story.

Delivery history

The route that got me here.

Picked up · Wales, age 8

The dream on the stairs

I grew up in Wales, and it wasn't an easy childhood. When I was 8, standing on the stairs, my dad asked what I wanted to do when I grew up. I said I wanted to live in America and make something of my life there. He said I'd go once and never want to come back. It didn't kill the dream. It made it stronger.

In transit · Edinburgh, 1992 to 2003

Four weeks a year

My twenties in Scotland, selling phone contracts. Coming third in a sales competition won me a trip to New York, and I came home with a suitcase I had to sit on to close. Through early internet chat rooms I made American friends I still have today, and for 7 years I visited for 4 weeks every year. The other 48 weeks, I knew exactly where I wanted to be.

Exception · the bills

Too scared to open the post

On about £15 an hour I could barely afford to live. For months I was too scared to open the bills, and they piled up. I never asked anyone for help, not even my sister. That's just not me.

In transit · age 30

All in

I reached a fork: go after the dream, or lock it away for good. I sold everything, including my house, and came to America with about $30,000 and a dream. I had to make it work.

Building a career from scratch

I met my wife and built a family here. I started in sales, then went after an IT help desk internship and was taken on full time within 3 months. Over 21 years I went from $27,000 a year on the help desk to a full member of the team, then Team Lead, then IT manager leading software teams.

Exception · after 21 years

Out of a job, and burnt out

Digital marketing was always my plan B. Then suddenly I was out of a job, with no plan. I'd been burnt out and depressed for a long time, and for over a year I was a zombie of myself while our savings dwindled to the last couple of thousand dollars.

Turning point

Back to me

A psychiatrist confirmed I'd had ADHD all my life: functioning, but not really functioning. With the right help, I got up that same day and was back to me, the go-getter. I didn't want to work for a corporation again. I wanted to be my own boss, for my family.

Exception · a false start

Three months, nothing

I bought a big all-in-one digital marketing course and promoted it for 3 solid months. Nothing. It covered so much that I never really understood what I was selling. I kept the bills paid with gig delivery apps.

Back on route

Night and day

Then I found Passive Digital Mastery, the course Francesca Fields created and I'm licensed to sell. It was night and day: straightforward, relatable, and I understood it. My first thought was, I could do this.

Building my own thing

I still drive gig delivery to pay the bills while I build my own businesses: a logistics company, twwlogistics.com, and Pathway to Digital. It's a squeeze between time and money, and I won't pretend otherwise. I'm learning in public and sharing the real process as I go.

Why I do this

My family is my why.

Especially my daughter. She's autistic, and I work tooth and nail for her: fighting for the services she needs, speaking up for her in school meetings, and helping her work through things rather than letting them hold her back. She's come so far.

Every year we do a charity 5K walk. For two years running, my wife and daughter went without me. My old job had me on call around the clock, often 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.

This year I made it. My daughter decided to race me and ran the whole way. I was 260 lb and sweating up a storm, and we crossed the finish line together. I couldn't have done that before now.

You don't need to be louder, faster or someone else. You need something that fits the life you're protecting.
